One of many concept hotels opening in recent years including the Vipp Hotel in Copenhagen, The Audo is the result of yet another creative collaboration between MENU and Norm Architects.
The name, Audo, is an abbreviation of the Latin phrase Ab Uno Disce Omnes meaning “from one, learn all”. Described as a hybrid space facilitating and celebrating human interaction and connection, as well as artistic expression, The Audo is a meeting place where the international art and design community can come together, collaborate, experiment and incorporate the inspiration they find into a unique story they can then share with the world.
Led by founder Jonas Bjerre-Poulsen and partner Peter Eland, Norm Architects have successfully transformed a disused merchant house for a shipping magnate in Nordhaven, Copenhagen - the city’s new waterfront city district and former industrial port. One of the oldest building’s in the area, Norm Architects fought to preserve the building’s façade in homage to its heritage. Inside, MENU’s extensive portfolio of furniture, lighting, and accessories are presented in new and authentic ways, redefining how we use design, space and ultimately how we connect to one another.
Guests are presented with a choice of 10 suites, each slightly different in personality. Carefully selected furnishings create transitions from bedroom to living room and workspace honoring the intention of the house. Tactile materials such as woolen rungs, natural stones, and rich textiles are pared with bespoke furniture, books, artworks, and accessories.
As a result, The Audo, masterfully unites co-working and event facilities, a cafe, restaurant, and concept store as well as an exclusive hotel residence through design, making transitions from one space to another seamless, inspiring and pleasurable.
