Introduce yourself! What is Refunk’d?
I am Ursh Stevens founder of Refunk’d. Here at Refunk’d we design and make furniture using reclaimed, salvaged materials alongside new metal and a variety of other mixed mediums.

What do you specialise in?
Refunk’d specialises in industrial and bespoke furniture.

Tell us about a few of your must have pieces.
Our Spitfire engine table would be one of my must have pieces if I had a bigger house! Other than that I love the brass table base we made for a client, the water boiler lamps and a new piece that is only just finished – it’s an industrial stool base with a beautiful piece of waney edged oak.

Where do you find inspiration?
Inspiration comes from everything. But having an overactive imagination really helps! I rubberneck if I drive past a skip. Going to the sawmill is always a pleasurable experience.

Do you have a favourite project you’ve worked on or had furniture commissioned for?
I think Merlin the spitfire table has to be one of my favourite finished pieces despite the hard work of hand polishing it. Other great projects have included a 16ft conference table made using reclaimed H beam, a lump of reclaimed wood and plywood; a large storage trolley for hairdressers and a display cabinet from a sheet of flat steel.

We’ve heard you will be exhibiting at LDF this September! What should we be looking out for from Refunk’d?
Yes! We will be at the Truman Brewery Hall 1 stand E26. I can’t reveal too much but there are some great pieces to be made for the event. They certainly won’t disappoint. The weekend prior to that we are also to be found at West Elm on Tottenham Court Road. It’s fair to say we will be taking London by storm in September!
