The London based interiors company Different Like a Zoo offers a “rescue and rehabilitation service for the home”. Catering for the design conscious with budgets both larger and smaller they source furniture, fabrics and unusual accessories as well as revamping and reinventing client’s treasured pieces. Whether charged with finding a single statement piece to complete a space or tasked with completely reworking an interior scheme, the aim is always to create a completely individual look. So, get in touch with Different Like a Zoo to make an appointment at the studio and learn how your home could be transformed! In the meantime, visit their online shop to browse stylish furniture, lighting and accessories. The Different Like a Zoo online collection includes gorgeous pieces from brands such as Merci, Zieta and Seletti. But we just had to share our favourite picks – all of which are by Belgium-based Heerenhuis.

Heerenhuis use traditional techniques and authentic materials to craft contemporary furniture, their pieces characterised by exceptional carpentry and clean modern lines. If we could, we would find space for every one of these beautiful items in our own home.

Now, the Heerenhuis website simply states: “We make tables. That is what we do.” However, they actually also have a line in highly covetable chairs and armchairs. The “does what it says on the tin” title of the Metal Chair II with Wheels and Leather Seat means it requires little explanation. We love the juxtaposition of the non-coated steel frame and the vegetable tanned leather seat, achieving an understated industrial chic effect. And the wheels make the chair a practical addition to your home, easily moved around and relocated.

There is also a version of the chair without wheels. Just as stylish but lacking the quirky edge of the wheeled version that we find so appealing.

The Cargo armchair, with vegetable tanned leather backrest and seat and sturdy non coated steel frame, has a strong masculine look. The excellent craftsmanship is clear in details such as the wood inlaid armrests. A stylish seat for any study or reading corner.

And last, but by no means least, the Heerenhuis tables. Their contemporary cuboid frames are again created from non coated steel, while the beautiful tabletop is formed from reclaimed teak which has been lovingly planed, smoothed and laminated to preserve the natural lustre of the wood.
