Shade Business

Posted on Nov 29, 2013 by

This wonderful 1950s style factory shade from Urban Cottage Industries is a great way to add industrial flair and a touch of colour to your home. We love the traditional British racing green colour of the made-in-England enamelled steel shade. And look at that unusual cut-out detail towards the top, where the bulb is held – meaning that the lightbulb, usually hidden within the shade, actually adds to the lighting’s design. Our tip: this light would look particularly striking hanging low over a reclaimed wood dining table – here are some of our favourites, from Barker & Stonehouse, Not On The High Street and The Old Cinema.

We love the unusual open section at the top of the factory shade, allowing the maximum amount of light to shine out from the top of the light as well as being reflected out by the enamel shade

Take a look at other lighting that’s caught our eyes recently!
