Navy Seal Of Approval

Posted on Oct 8, 2013 by

The iconic 1006 Navy Chair was first built in 1944 for use on submarines and it’s been in continuous production ever since. The chair is constructed using a renowned 77 step process (no less!), in which skilled craftsmen hand form and weld soft recycled aluminium and then temper (heat treat) it for strength. Finally, each chair is anodised for a pristine, durable finish. It’s for this reason that the Navy Chairs are guaranteed for life. The 1006 Navy Chair is stocked by The Conran Shop however, for the eco and design conscious among us, The Conran Shop also offers the Navy 111 Chair. The 111 boasts the same attributes of strength, durability and comfort as the original 1006 Navy Chair but, in a special creative collaboration between Emeco and Coca-Cola, it has been fashioned from 111 recycled plastic drinks bottles (hence the name). This means that the chair is lighter in weight, although just as big on style, and you can feel good every time you sit on it. The production of this chair alone is estimated to keep three million plastic coke bottles per year out of our landfill sites. So, invest in a style icon and do your bit for the environment.
