CICO Books Blog Tour: Life Unstyled
Following in the success of two former titles, Bohemian Modern and Modern Rustic, Anthropolgie merchandiser turned Interior Stylist, designer and author, Emily Henson debuts her remarkable (and relatable) manifesto for a beautifully lived in home. Settling back into East London life after many years spent in LA, Emily curates a pared back lifestyle for the creative homeowner. To the author a Life Unstyled simply means to embrace the beauty in imperfection, creating a space that is always evolving and never completely finished.
A rebellion against impossible living standards, Life Unstyled showcases a true variety of real homes, tips, ideas and decorating advice – indulging the reader in the idea of an ‘ever-evolving interior’. The book embraces the chaotic, the messy and the cluttered in a collective of inspiring stories and images curated, styled and written by Henson and captured by photographer Debi Treloar. Read on as we share a few of our very favourite pages.
Now the private home of an art collector, artist and writer, this converted commercial building in North London was once a graphic design studio. Sitting mysteriously behind reeded glass windows, this light filled space presents an eclectic collection of art and textiles layered throughout. We love the almost improvised nature of this gallery wall and are sure you will too! Use vintage charts, postcards and frames from salvaging specialists such as Scaramanaga or Vintage Matters to get the look in your own home or see how we created a similar urban oasis here!
This bohemian inspired interior thoughtfully embraces colour with chalky pastel walls; a soft contrast against worn reclaimed timbers and industrial style pendants. Style a similar look with unique lighting solutions from Mayfly Vintage and The Gifted Few.
True to style this classic Warehouse interior examples the heritage characteristics our readers love! Over years of travelling, collecting and re-inventing the owners of this West London property have curated a truly unique and personal space.
