Boat Wood Beauty

If you’re looking for a dining table with character, then the Axel dining table from Barker & Stonehouse is bound to appeal. Furniture designer Timothy Oulton is particularly concerned with conservation and sustainability. The tabletop of his Axel dining table is formed from reclaimed wood from the hulls and decking of decommissioned Chinese junks – the weathered colour and texture of the Sassafras hardwood is the result of decades of exposure to the elements. The tabletop is supported by a simple tubular steel frame which has been hand-treated for a vintage finish. Matching Axel benches  are sold separately. Our tip: up the style stakes further with a classic Tolix A56 Armchair in varnished raw steel at the head of the table.
