5 Sculptural Concrete & Pewter Designs

Posted on Jan 6, 2017 by

Known for producing distinctive furniture, objects and homewares which fuse industrial materials and processes with high quality craftsmanship, our friends at Anwar Studio have collaborated with Wentworth Pewter one of the last remaining pewtersmiths in the UK, on the commission and launch of Topian, a sculptural collection of contemporary vases, vessels, candlesticks and a singular bowl.

With reference to the Utopian vision of a better world, Topian is at once a direct reference to the block like buildings of the brutalist movement, as it is a conceptual, experimental process using waste materials such as metal shavings, dust and pumice to create a lighter, stronger concrete with a lower carbon footprint.

Waste materials such as metal shavings, dust and pumice are added to a cement mix creating a lighter, stronger concrete
